el verano…

June 15th, 2007 by chiauling

It’s the last day of term, yet it doesn’t feel like the last as I’ll be stuck in good ol’ Oxford for the entire summer. Yeap, no nasi lemak, no mee goreng, no ABC, no cendol for me.

Second year came and went. FUN is probably the exact word to describe the past year. It’s been a really pleasant one. One thing’s for sure, I’ve no regrets coming here.

However, the thought of being a finalist next year is indeed creepy. Oh well, guess we’ll have to face with some exam stress at some point anyway =p

Right now, Pimm’s and sunshine shall be the focus of my life in the coming few months.

El verano, me gustar.

Yea… It’s the holidays again…

"Oxford is for slackers, why are you having your holidays again?"

"What? 6 weeks? Don’t you guys ever need to work?"

Yea, I’m into the 2nd week of my Easter holidays now. One more week to Portugal! Sunshine, Potugese hunks, amazing friends, unlimited food & drinks, banters …

That is a perfect life.

Boxing Day

December 26th, 2006 by chiauling

I am bored.

It’s Boxing Day today, ie sales. Last year’s Boxing Day in London was a nightmare. It is, however, suprisingly quiet in Oxford this time around.

Since I have a 12pm - 12am shift in the lodge, I’m left with 2+ hours to shop in the morning. Soojin & I were pretty enthusiastic when we set off at 9.30am. Greetings from the empty and quiet streets in town sorta put us off immediately and we ended up having coffee & muffins in Costa cafe. What losers…

Caught a glimpse of hope when Zara finally opens. And then there were Gap, Topshop, River Island, etc. Ended up window shopping instead. What losers…

Catch of the day : Face moisturiser from Body Shop. What loser…

And yes, that’s Boxing Day 2006.

I’m bored.

Greetings from the Lodge

December 22nd, 2006 by chiauling

It’s been a while since my last post.

Busy, lazy, lack of inspiration… excuses.

Michaelmas term came and went. So quickly that I could only remember it as a term filled with parties, banters, gossip, and dramas. Doesn’t feel as if I’m a student, guess it’s time to re-focus (as if that’ll happen, but it’s a priority in my new year’s resolution).

Christmas in the lodge sounds sad. But again, I’m just gona bum around anyway. Guess I’ll spend the time missing the people back home, not looking forward to it.

New year in Edinburgh sounds fun. Can’t wait to meet up with some old mates. Catching ups always leave you with fond memories. Plus, Hogmanay is something to look forward to.

2006 - Enjoyed every bit of it

2007 - Bring it on

Merry Christmas & a happy new year!

Lodge - home for porters

Porters - glorified guards (work includes eating, sleeping, surfing the net, msn-ing, receiving parcels, watching tv)

Hogmanay - annual New Year’s celebration in Scotland

Michaelmas term - 1st term out of the 3 terms in Oxford (Michaelmas –> Hilary –> Trinity)

Home Sweet Home

August 8th, 2006 by chiauling

Home sweet home.

Couldn’t really find a word to describe how it feels to be at home…finally. Nothing much’s changed to be honest, well, probably just an additional member to my household - Blacky the dog. Same old faces, same old places. It sounds cliche i know, but I feel different myself. Again, another feeling I can’t really describe.

Haven’t really been idle since I came back early July. Been travelling quite a bit, been eating quite alot, been exercising quite a bit, been shoppin quite alot… Sounds like an ideal life to me!

Interestingly, it’s not the boredom which prompted me to write this post. I just feel like keepin my brain workin before it turns rusty at the end of this summer. And judging from this pointless and dry post of mine, I think I’m running out of brain juice…

Gosh…holidays…

It’s been a while….

April 14th, 2006 by chiauling

I just realised my previous entries were all from last Christmas’ holiday. Indeed, it’s been a while… Last term was like a roller coaster ride, lotsa ups and downs and I’m welcoming my next term in a week’s time.. It’s really amazing how time flies by!

Easter holiday’s less boring compared to last Christmas break. Been bumming alot with a few friends over in Oxford, went to Scotland, did some revision, friendster-ing, msn-ing, facebook-ing… Wait, I think it’s just as boring. Haha!

Can’t wait for summer holidays to be honest, I know.. it’s still Easter break now, but heck, kinda miss Malaysia already. Plus, can’t wait for my Europe trip in summer. Just trying to ignore next term, as it’ll be hell since there’ll be lectures/labs/tutorials/revisions/etc and of all finals!!

Guess I’m too shallow to write about deep stuff like life and stuff… And guess I’m too lazy to bore u with what i did over this vacation… I bet you will read this if only u are bored enough to have anything else to do.. :P

my parents

December 11th, 2005 by chiauling

It’s weird to blog about your parents, ain’t it? It’s even weirder to say that I miss my parents because I haven’t been seeing them on MSN for the past 2 days. It never occurs to me that my parents will one day, have their own MSN account, talking to me using a webcam, calling me on Skype, and above all - using the "chat room language" while chatting on MSN, having fun with all the funky emoticons…..

My brother was complaining how hard it was to get them this far, but I know he’s brimming with pride.. It must’ve been a hilarious momment for the 3 of them. Argh, missed it! Well, what do you expect from people who’re in their 40s and 50s? Pa & ma, you guys rock!

I can still remember the day my parents got themselves a mobile phone, and trying to make sense out of it. My dad will be complaining how small the phones are, that he can only press one single button with the use of a pen (apparently his fingers are too big for the keypad); my mom will be panicking whenever the phone rings, having a hard time to decide which button to press - the green or the red?? And yes, my brother and I spent 2 weeks getting them to send out their first SMS.. and it took them 30mins to send a SMS which goes like "Where are you? Are you coming home for dinner?" By the time the text was sent, dad was at the door asking for dinner…. hahaha..

There’re just too many anecdotes to put down here…. I miss my pa & ma…

Ah…my parents…

To my bro: don’t worry, I’ll write a whole new post about u ;) Miss you too!

Silent Night…..

December 7th, 2005 by chiauling

Hmm…There’s really nothing to write about, it’s just plain boredom that got me started writing… It’s so hard to put boredom down in words. It’s not like I have nothing better to do, the pile of homework and lectures to catch up is an eye sore, occupying the only corner left in my room. (the others are taken up by boxes/luggages/random stuff)

Finally had a quiet night yesterday, with the music playing from my laptop..sheets of organic notes scattering on the floor, me snuggling in Julian’s massive mink blanket…It’s been a long time since I tried working alone..not very interesting I would say. But yeah, it’s a soothing moment to get away from the huh-hah of the past few days/weeks..

I promise to write something bright and cheerful next time! At the mean time, do bear with my random rants…. :)

Here comes the holidays…

December 5th, 2005 by chiauling

Hello people! Here am I spamming your email inbox again..(Tat Loo, how to turn off the notification?!)

Yup, the 6-week holiday I anticipated is finally here! It’s been kinda hectic for the past few days, helping friends with their packings and shiftings, turning my room into a storage, sending them off to the bus station, etc. I’d made so many trips to Gloucester Green (the bus station) that I bet the ticket sellers must thought that I’m working for some travelling agency whatsoever.

I hate being alone..and the fact that I’ll be left alone after Tim leaves for London later really saddens me. Yeah, seniors and some friends in church will be around, but things are so different without the usual crowd in my room..  Workload for the holidays is depressing as well… Argh… but don’t worry, I’m sure it’s the best time for me to finally learn the meaning of stayin in a single room. For those of you who don’t know, there’ll be usually more than 2 people in my room during term. To be honest, I don’t know what were they doing in my room. Everyone will just be doing random stuff, be it studying (trying to), hogging on msn, sleeping (on my bed n the floor), eating, etc…

I guess this is a time for me to finally sit back and try to enjoy the peacefulness…but heck…I prefer the noise!

I shall learn. the. meaning. of. quietness.

And yes, I miss home. I miss Malaysia. I miss the food. I miss the people.

Maybe I should blog…

November 8th, 2005 by chiauling

Hey everyone! My apology if the notification of my post actually contribute to the spam in your mailbox, Friendster has the tendency of flooding your mailbox with notifications for the most petty stuff..

Anyway, I must be drunk for actually starting this blog of mine. I had this intention in mind since years ago, but Im just too lazy to put my thoughts in words, and since I’ll forget them sooner or later..so why bother? Well, it must be the crazy/ murderous organic chemistry problem sheet that I’d been staring at for the whole afternoon which prompted me to write this post…I just cant stand the sight of it anymore!

Time flies indeed..it’s already my 6th week here in Oxford.. Never in my wildest dream had I imagine myself here… It’s really been an overwhelming journey for me so far. Lotsa ups and downs in just 6 weeks.. Ah well…I shall bore u guys with the details some other time, when I am less lazy…which means..this might just be my first and last post..hahah!
